Released in 2003 as part of the Classic LEGO Star Wars collection, is the LEGO 4476 Jabba's Prize . This is one of the three sets that are part of the Product Collection K4480 Jabba’s Palace Kit. This smaller set allows builders to recreate the memorable scenes from the beginning of the Star Wars Episode VI: Return of the Jedi movie. The set contains Han in carbonite, part of the throne room wall and two LEGO Star Wars minifigures (Boba Fett and a Gamorrean guard).
Lots of people love to see the universe, and some of them just prefer to spend more time in space than on planets. One such person, Han Solo, traveled the galaxy and stopped off at Jabba’s to pick up an easy job running spice. Suppose to be easy, anyways. Han got jumped by an Imperial patrol and dumped the spice, much to Jabba’s displeasure. Running for years, Han signed up with the Rebel Alliance.
Going to Cloud city looking for help to hide from the Imperials, only to end up in Imperial custody. Using the carbon-freezing chamber on Han as a test for the attempt to capture Luke Skywalker, Vader encased Han in a block of carbonite. After Vader handed Han over to Boba Fett, he was taken to Jabba the Hut. Hung in the throne room as a decoration and an example, Han’s friends mount a desperate rescue attempt.
The wall is little more than a place to show off Han. The special wall has a moveable stand for the carbonite block, allowing the block to be locked into place or be lowered to the ground from its place on the wall. The archway behind the stand matches the movie set exactly.
Boba Fett, the feared bounty hunter, wears the traditional armor of the Mandalorian warriors, painted in greens and grays. Wearing gray gloves, a brown belt and gray pants, rounded off with a helmet piece that also includes the jet pack and back mounted rocket launcher, this minifigure is a good reproduction of the Boba Fett character. The minifigure does not have a face, but instead has a solid black head, to make it look like the helmet has a black visor. The Gamorrean guard has a large headpiece with tusks and all. It also wears armor, though that is painted the same green color as its tough skin. Just don’t make fun of him for it, he’s armed with a vibro-axe. Han, in his carbonite sleep, has a pained expression on his face. That expression served as a reminder to any of those who wished to take advantage of Jabba the Hut.
With 39 pieces, the LEGO 4476 Jabba's Prize is a small set, but it does have a lot to offer collectors. Han Solo in carbonite has only been seen in a handful of sets, and the same can be said of the Gamorrean guard LEGO mini figures. Recommended for builder age 6 to 12, this is a simple set that would be great for younger builders. Will Han’s friends be able to get past the vigilant Boba Fett and the fearsome Gamorrean to free him, or will any attempt be doomed to fail? Only you can decide, but may the Force be with you!
