Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley are going back to school for their third year in Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban. By this time, two Defense Against the Darks Arts teachers have held the post for one year each, so who will be brave enough to take the post this year? Professor Remus Lupin, of course!
Though he might look a bit shabby, he soon became everyone’s favorite professor. On the first day of class Lupin brings in a large wardrobe holding a Boggart. Only Hermione Granger knows what a Boggart is: a nasty creature that will assume the shape of whatever the person fears most. While Professor Snape doesn’t have any confidence in Neville Longbottom’s abilities, Lupin does. While Neville confides to Lupin that he fears Snape, Lupin tells Neville to imagine Snape in his grandmother’s clothing using the Riddikulus charm and the results are just hilarious!
The LEGO 4752 Professor Lupin's Classroom set was released in 2004 to come out at the same time as the Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban movie. Included in this wonderful set are Professor Lupin’s classroom, the wardrobe and three LEGO mini figures (Neville Longbottom, Professor Lupin and the Boggart disguised as Severus Snape). Sadly, this set does not include any of the rest of Gryffindor class, not even Harry, Hermione or Ron.
The classroom is a lot like that in the movie, complete with the skulls on the ceiling. There is also the collapsible spiral staircase that leads up to Lupin’s office, and up in that office rests a record player to play that snazzy, up-beat music. The wardrobe spins around to reveal the Boggart, which has shape-shifted to look like Professor Snape. There are also other magical instruments strewn around the room, three skulls, a spell book, magical potions and a moveable spider web with a large orange spider at its center.
Neville Longbottom has his short black hair and Hogwarts school uniform on, complete with black cape and Gryffindor tie. Professor Lupin is wearing a tattered green set of robes and a nice, faded cape to match the movie better. The wavy reddish hair matches his comb over well and he has a nice smile on his face. The Neville and Lupin minifigures were exclusive to this set until 2011, when both characters were redesigned to appear in the 4867 Hogwarts. The Boggart, still an exclusive minifigure to this set, is slightly green, wearing a green blouse with a pelt around his neck. It would have made the minifigure even funnier if they had included the red handbag and Vulture hat from the movie, but the minifigure is still pretty amazing.
A 155 piece set, this isn’t a terribly difficult build; the most complicating parts are the moving stair and spinning wardrobe. Recommended by the LEGO Company for builders age 6 to 10, this is another good set to build up the confidence of younger builders as it is simple and usually won’t take them too long to build. The set is fun of fun though and makes a great addition to any LEGO Harry Potter fan’s collection!
