Blackbeard is the pirate that all pirates fear, Jack said that himself in the movie Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides. But why is it that? Could it be because he can make the rigging of a ship come to life, or simply because he can capture a ship and put it in a bottle for his trophy room? Blackbeard keeps his bottled ships in a secure cabinet, locked away in his cabin. No one knows about it, except him and Angelica…and Jack. Determined to get his beloved Black Pearl back, Jack has snuck into the room, only to find that it is guarded by two of Blackbeard’s Zombified Lieutenants, the Yeoman and the Gunner!
Released to coincide with the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides movie release, the LEGO 4191, a 95-piece set reveals a bit more about the mysterious pirate Backbeard. Despite the fact that this scene never occurred in the movie, it does give a little more detail for Captain Blackbeard’s cabin and provide a few more zombies for action. It was Joshamee Gibbs who snuck onto the Queen Anne’s Revenge and nicked the bottled ships, but it would be like Jack to take the credit for that, now wouldn’t it?
The cabin contains the bottle rack, with two bottled ships, a globe on a stand, a creepy bone table, goblets and a set of charts. Without walls or a door, you’ll just have to pretend, but it does leave you more space to fight in. The cabinet is very ornate, made of black and gold pieces and bones to give is a creepy look. Standing 3 inches (7 cm) tall with a base measuring 4 inches (10 cm) wide, the stand isn’t too shabby, but it certainly wouldn’t hold all the bottled ships from the movie. The bottles have clear racks to sit on and while they don’t actually have a ship inside of them, there is a ship printed on the side. The globe is impressive, though small. The globe looks very realistic and even has a very ornate and beautiful stand. The table is held up by bone legs, unique and creepy, just like Blackbeard.
Captain Jack Sparrow is decked out with his crazy headband and hair, his worn brown pants as well as his blue shirt, sash and sword. Jack has a frightened look on his face, but he’s got his trusty compass and sword in hand, and with those he can work his way out of anything. The Zombie Gunner is covered in tattoos as in the movie and wears the same tattered pants. Wearing a sword belt, but no hair, he carries a pistol that befits his role as gunner aboard ship. The Zombie Yeoman wears a ripped brown shirt and tan pants. With long pulled back black hair, a sword and a violent expression on his face, this is not a guy you’d want to meet while sneaking around.
Recommended for builders age 6 to 12, this small set provides a lot of action without being terribly expensive or difficult to build. Perfect for younger builders, the set will also be good for the older builder looking to get more zombie pirates to go along with other LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean sets. This set, like all in the LEGO Pirates series, contains a special poster and even a Captain Jack Sparrow card. Will Jack be able to steal the Black Pearl back from Blackbeard, or will the zombies stop him for good? Only you can build and decide!
