Jack Sparrow has snuck back into London to help out an old friend. In the LEGO 4193, Joshamee Gibbs has been accused of being Jack and is about to get hung from the gallows when Jack slips into the trail and saves him. On the run, the pair are quickly captured by Royal soldiers. Escaping from King George’s place and getting to the tavern, “The Captain’s Daughter” is their only hope of hiding out until the chaos dies down a little and they have a chance to slip out of London alive.
Fairly large, this 462-piece set allows you to recreate the epic opening chase scene from the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides movie exactly. Including the tavern, “The Captain’s Daughter,” the prison cart, the coal cart and five LEGO mini figures (Captain Jack Sparrow, Joshamee Gibbs, coach driver and two of King George’s own Royal Soldiers), this set has all you need and more to cause chaos throughout London’s streets!
The Captain’s Daughter pub is comprised of two different sections on a hinge so that the interior can be played with. The roof even hinges down to make access even easier. The windows, wooden doors, the furnace door and opening chimney all make the building authentic to ancient London. Inside rests a casket of wine to spill on soldiers, as well as bottles and goblets of rum for piratey fun.
The horse charts are amazing builds in themselves. The carriage has room for two people to sit, a place for the driver in the front and room for a treasure chest holding gold or whatever you need in the back. The green and black trim mark the carriage as belonging to London’s elite, and the lanterns on either side will help light the way in the dark. Opening doors make the cart even more realistic. Pulled along by one horse, you might not be able to go super fast, but this carriage can get you anywhere in style. The coal chart doesn’t have a driver, though it otherwise looks exactly like it does in the movie. The chart includes a whip and shovel for normal work, but it also has a mounted lantern that can set the chart on fire.
Captain Jack Sparrow wears his hat and crazy hair, along with his pirate coat and sword. Although Joshamee Gibbs wasn’t technically involved in this part of the chase scene in the movie, it still is rather nice to have him along, to give Jack someone to help him, especially since Angelica isn’t included in this set. Gibbs looks rather aged, grey hair and all, but he still has lots of fight left in him. Dressed in his old sailors uniform and his unshaven face, this is a good likeness of the character. The carriage driver wears a three-corner hat, a nice cloak and typical London garb. The King’s Officer has a feather in his cap, yellow shoulder pads, a sword belt and a revolver in addition to his red and white uniform. The King’s Royal soldier wears the red and white uniform typical of the Royal forces, but also wears a blue shoulder pad and carries a rifle.
Recommended for builders age 7 to 14, this is a large but easy to build set. While it does contain some tricky pieces, most builders will be able to manage this set without much difficultly. Taking on a few hours at most, this set can grow a younger builder’s skill and provide lots of fun and adventure. As with all the Pirates of the Caribbean sets, this set contains a poster revealing a special something. Will Jack and Gibbs be able to get free, or will the King’s men take them captive again? Only you can decide, so get building!
